Detroit honors employees, celebrates 1 millionth axles built

Detroit_Tandem_Axle_3Detroit Diesel Corporation (Detroit) today celebrated the production of its one millionth Detroit axle at its Employee Appreciation Day. The annual employee recognition event was held at the company’s headquarters in Redford, Mich.

“Our Employee Appreciation Day celebrates the hard work and dedication of our employees, who are the heart of what makes our products and our company successful,” said Jeff Allen, head of Redford plant operations for Detroit Diesel Corporation. “The production of our one millionth Detroit axle is an achievement for all of our employees.”

Detroit manufactures front steer, rear single drive and rear tandem drive axles at its three-million square foot Detroit facility in Redford.  It uses a state of the art dry cutting process to ensure exceptional product quality as well as housing testing, engineering, and support staffs in the Redford facility. The company has been producing axles at the Redford facility since 2003.

Detroit recently unveiled new rear axles; a 6×2 configuration with a 2.28 ratio and a new 2.41 ratio in its 6×4 configuration, in conjunction with the introduction of the new integrated Detroit Powertrain. All Detroit axles are available in a wide range of ratio options and are compatible with all braking systems offered by Daimler Trucks.
