The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will hold a public listening session on Saturday, Sept. 22 in Reno, Nevada, to field input from the public and industry stakeholders on potential hours of service reforms.
This will be the second listening session held on the topic of hours of service since the agency announced it is evaluating hours regs via an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. The agency had a session scheduled to be held Sept. 14 in Washington, D.C., but cancelled it due to the impending landfall of Hurricane Florence. FMCSA has said it will reschedule that session, but it has not yet announced details.
The Reno listening session will be held at the National Automobile Museum, at 10 S. Lake Street in Reno. The session will start at 10 a.m. PDT and end at 12 p.m.

The agency has said it is evaluating (1) adding flexibility to the 14-hour rule and split sleeper berth options, (2) the 30-minute break requirement and (3) expanding the 12-hour on-duty period for short-haul drivers. The comment period ends Sept. 24.
