Diesel fuel prices have been in a holding pattern in recent months with prices staying between $3.20 and $3.25 per gallon nationally since mid-June. That pattern continued during the week ending Aug. 13 as prices fell by just six-tenths of a cent from the previous week.
The U.S.’ average price for a gallon of on-highway diesel is now $3.217, the lowest mark since the end of June.
During the most recent week, prices fell in all regions with the most significant decrease being seen in the Midwest region, where prices dropped by 1.2 cents.
California still holds the nation’s most expensive fuel at $3.942 per gallon, followed by the West Coast less California region at $3.425 per gallon.
The cheapest diesel can be found in the Gulf Coast region at $2.99 per gallon, followed by the Lower Atlantic region at $3.091 per gallon.
