J.J. Keller & Associates Inc. announced that it has developed a Web-based application that assists companies in filing IRS Heavy Vehicle Use Tax forms quickly and efficiently.

The Internal Revenue Code (Section 4481) imposes an annual Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) on the use of highway vehicles with a taxable gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more. The American Jobs Creation Act of 2004 mandated electronic filing of HVUT returns for 25 or more motor vehicles; the IRS began enforcing this requirement in 2008.

J.J. Keller says its Web-based application, 2290 Online, provides anytime access, user-defined security and access privileges, centralized tax filing and reminders of annual filings; users can access their account from anywhere, at anytime, allowing multiple locations to take advantage of the speed and efficiency of e-filing.

The 2290 Online application’s home page provides alerts and reminders for vehicles that require reporting, while the user-friendly design offers one-click access to all information and produces an electronic stamped Schedule 1 faster than ever before, according to the company; the new online application also can integrate with other J.J. Keller online applications.

“Electronic efficiency is key to reducing costly and time-consuming administrative functions,” says Chad Govin, corporate services sales manager for J.J. Keller, based in Neenah, Wis. “With 2290 Online, companies can reduce the administrative costs of paper filing and experience quicker Schedule 1 turnaround.”
