Lakeville Motor Express on Thursday, Feb. 7, announced the appointment of Al Bucher to the position of executive vice president. Bucher, who assumed his new role Thursday, joined the company in 2003 as vice president of sales and marketing. In his 27 years in the transportation industry, Bucher has held positions in both operations and sales, including nine years at the executive management level.

“Al has done a terrific job in working with our customer base and in training our sales people to be solution providers” says John Wren, chief executive officer of Roseville, Minn.-based Lakeville Motor Express. “He is a leader who understands people.”

Beginning March 1, Lakeville Motor Express and five other regional carriers will enter into a new transportation network — dubbed the Reliance Network — that will offer continentwide less-than-truckload, truckload and supply chain freight services. The carriers and the regions they will cover include Lakeville Motor Express (Midwest), Averitt Express (South and Southeastern), Pitt Ohio Express (Mid-Atlantic, including Indiana, Michigan and Ohio), Land Air Express of New England (New England), DATS Trucking (West) and Canadian Freightways/Epic Express (Canada).

“Al has been heavily involved in the formation of The Reliance Network, and I know he will continue to work closely with our North American partners as the network grows,” says Pete Martin, president of Lakeville Motor Express.
