Landstar System, No. 8 in the CCJ Top 250, recognized 176 owner-operators for safe driving achievements and gave away a 2020 Kenworth T680 to one of its drivers.

Cecilia Logan, of Hartford, Alabama, was selected randomly from a pool of more than 1,000 Landstar Million Mile Safe Drivers to win the truck. Logan leased on with Landstar in 2001 with her husband, Jaime. She was named a Million Mile Safe Driver in 2015 and was a Roadstar honoree in 2017. The contest was sponsored by Comdata.

In addition to giving away the truck, the company also named 14 new Roadstar recipients, 137 new Million Mile Safe Drivers, 22 Two Million Mile Safe Drivers and two Three Million Mile Safe Drivers.

Another owner-operator, Art Trezise, was presented with the Landstar Lifetime Achievement Award. Trezise, of Springhill, Florida, was named a Million Mile Safe Driver in 1993, and in 2001 he reached two million safe miles with Landstar and was named a Roadstar recipient. In 2012, he was honored as a Three Million Mile Safe Driver.

“The BCO (Business Capacity Owner) Lifetime Achievement Award is the perfect way to honor this 40-year safe driver,” said Landstar President and CEO Jim Gattoni. “The award is a testament to Art’s professionalism and excellence as an independent owner-operator at Landstar.”

To be considered for the Landstar Lifetime Achievement Award, drivers must be an active or retired Landstar owner-operator who has been leased on with Landstar for at least 20 consecutive years and have been at least a Two Million Mile Safe Driver and a Roadstar recipient. The company says these drivers must also “have consistently demonstrated professionalism by developing a positive reputation with regulatory and enforcement personnel, customers, agents and Landstar employees, as well as through industry recognition.”
