March 2014’s U.S.-NAFTA trade total rose 6.2 percent from the same month last year and is the second highest amount on record. October 2013’s $103.089 is the highest on record.
Trucks joined pipeline, vessel and air in moving more goods in March 2014 than in March 2013. Truck freight grew 6.3 percent, carrying $31.2 billion in exports and $29.8 billion in imports, BTS reported.
Rail was the second largest mode, carrying 14.8 percent of U.S.-NAFTA trade.
Trucks carried 54.3 percent of the $56.6 billion in freight moved to and from Canada in March and 67.4 percent of the $44.9 billion in trade with Mexico.
