Out-of-service criteria for commercial motor vehiclesNew and updated out-of-service criteria for commercial motor vehicles go into effect on April 1, 2017. Put together by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance of law enforcement and industry, the changes have been incorporated in a new edition of the OOS-criteria handbook, available for $35 for CVSA members, $45 for nomembers, in hard copy and electronic format.

Few significant changes from years past have been made, but new out-of-service conditions related to the electronic logging device mandate’s December 18 enforcement are included.

Other changes include out-of-service conditions related to Inactive U.S. DOT numbers and a number of clarifications intended to remove confusion over certain OOS violations.

CVSA detailed all of the changes in brief in this document.
