The National Minority Trucking Association (NMTA) has partnered with professional NFL and NBA athletes to launch a new minority-focused trucking consortium, headquartered in College Park, Georgia. The company, Minority Transportation Consortium (MTC), aims to help small trucking companies compete for freight and contracts with major corporations, according to the NMTA.

MTC is a third party logistics company. It will seek to partner with minority, women and veteran-owned companies which are looking for freight opportunities with corporations and shippers. It will share a portion of its profits with its qualified carrier partners.

The following athletes have pledged time, support and resources to form the MTC:

  • Former NFL defensive back, Idrees Bashir
  • Former NFL cornerback, Roland “Champ” Bailey
  • Former NFL linebacker, Boss Bailey
  • Former NFL tight end, Marcus Pollard
  • Former NBA player and US Olympian, Charles D. Smith, Jr.

“The mission of MTC is groundbreaking,” said MTC President, Idrees Bashir.  “I’m vested in this consortium because we will be changing lives and having a direct impact on minority-owned carriers across the nation.”
