Hy-Drive announced that it has signed an agreement for delivery of 18 of its Hydrogen Generating System units to Ontario Waste Management, a division of Courtice Auto Wreckers Ltd. of Oshawa, Ontario. Hy-Drive will be installing the HGS units on OWM trucks over the next several weeks as trucks become available.

Hy-Drive says OWM worked with its team to complete a series of testing trials over a period of two months that mapped engine performance over consistent long-haul runs, using the same drivers with tightly controlled fuelling and the use of control vehicles. To ensure precise, meaningful and realistic comparative evaluation of engine performance, with and without the use of HGS, additional environmental considerations such as temperature, altitude, humidity and wind also were factored into the data collection.

“We are very pleased that this will allow us to get meaningful savings and reduce the environmental impact of our fleet of waste haulage trucks in Ontario,” says Harvey “Skip” Ambrose, president and owner of OWM.

Simultaneously, Hy-Drive will be implementing an on-road advertising campaign with OWM to increase the awareness of Hy-Drive’s HGS product. “We very much look forward to continuing to work with Skip Ambrose and OWM as leading early adopters of our HGS technology,” says Hugo Sorensen, president and chief executive officer of Hy-Drive.

Hy-Drive recently received two additional patents, one from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and another from the director of The United States Patent and Trademark Office. “These significant patents add to Hy-Drive’s strong intellectual property portfolio,” Sorensen says. “This brings our total number of patents issued to eight, with 18 patents pending and additional patents under development. We believe this strong portfolio makes Hy-Drive a leader of innovative hydrogen technology.”
