photoPeopleNet, a Trimble company and provider of fleet mobility technology, announced the recipients of its 2014 Innovator of the Year Awards, presented to fleets that demonstrate leadership in using PeopleNet products and services in unique ways to accelerate return on investment (ROI).

“As PeopleNet celebrates its 20th  anniversary this year, we recognize that now, more than ever, the trucking industry must be persistent in its quest for innovation. We’re proud to recognize and support our PeopleNet customers who are blazing a trail for the future of technology, safety and performance improvement in an ever-changing and complex environment,” said Randy Boyles, presenting the awards at its customer appreciation banquet on Aug. 19 held at PeopleNet’s 12th annual user conference in Hollywood, Fla.

This year, recipients were selected by the PeopleNet Advisory Council, a group of customers that meet regularly to provide PeopleNet feedback and guidance on its product development strategy. Awards were presented to the following companies in four categories:

Under 100 Trucks: Admiration Foods – Supreme Oil Company

As the largest privately owned food oils manufacturing company on the east coast, the Brundidge, Alabama-based Supreme Oil Company fleet went through a radical transformation in late 2013 when it selected PeopleNet to provide services for automatic vehicle location, automated fuel tax (VUSION), eDriver Logs, in-cab training, onboard event recording, speed monitoring, and messaging.  In this short time, the company was able to reduce its compliance, safety, accountability (CSA) scores to zero, or well below all thresholds, which is equal to many of the elite private fleets in the country.

100-500 Trucks: Nussbaum Transportation Services, Inc.

As a customer for 10 years, Nussbaum Transportation Services of Hudson, Illinois, has seen a number of successes as a result of implementing new PeopleNet telematics technologies. Most recently, it created Driver Excelerator, a successful performance measurement and bonus program utilizing performance data, engine data and vehicle location data provided by PeopleNet which is integrated into a custom-built, comprehensive driver scorecard program. This initiative has set an industry-wide example of how to build incentive programs that reward both the company and its drivers.
