ATDynamics announced that Prime Inc. will install TrailerTail aerodynamic fairings on the trailers it buys through the end of this year.

The fuel-saving improvement will benefit not only the carrier but the many owner-operators who pull Prime trailers.

An ATD spokesman, during the Mid-America Trucking Show Thursday, said at least 450 trailers are expected to be spec’d with the fairings.

After extensive research, including independent SAE Type II J1321 testing and wind tunnel testing, Prime decided that TrailerTails and trailer skirts provide the greatest fuel savings at highway speed, said ATD.

ATD Vice President Kyle Houston said Prime is “setting an industry standard for how to spend less money on fuel and put more money into drivers’ pockets.
