Reducing dock accidents

DLM’s Dock Safety Flag visually signals a truck driver ready to depart that a dock leveler is in use at the rear of his trailer. The company says this helps reduce accidents that occur when a truck departs while dock personnel are still working in the trailer.

The flag is mechanically activated by the dock leveler. Whenever the leveler is in an operating position, the bright red flag is displayed on the driver’s side of the leveler, showing him that there might be personnel in the trailer. The driver can easily see the flag in his rear view mirror. A green flag is displayed when the dock leveler is in the stored position.

The device is constructed of steel and is offered as a factory installed option on all of DLM’s edge-of-dock levelers.
