telogisnavigation

Telogis Navigation (formerly NaviGo) combines a turn-by-turn navigation application with a cloud-based route optimization engine into a single software-as-a-service platform. The platform uses the vehicle’s current location, planned stops, and fleet-specific parameters to calculate optimal routes.

The planned stops for each trip can be entered automatically into Telogis’ servers through integration with fleets’ back-office dispatch software systems. Telogis Navigation servers return the optimized routes to the mobile app which, in turn, gives spoken, turn-by-turn directions to drivers.

Telogis Navigation can be combined with other integrated components of Telogis’ software-as-a-service platform which includes strategic and dynamic route planning, mobile apps for Hours of Service (HOS) and other compliance requirements, along with mobile forms and telematics.

Reviewers gave Telogis Navigation mixed reviews. Some gave it high marks for keeping route and mapping data current while others did not. Some were satisfied with processing speed for recalculating routes when drivers missed turns, while others were not. Overall, there does not appear to be a consensus on the system’s strengths or weaknesses.

“In-cab navigation is improving, and Navigo/Telogis has come a long way. The onboard re-routing has eliminated the delay that used to frustrate drivers. The interface in the latest version currently in beta test is much improved and we are anxious to get that out to our drivers. Speed alerts are also going to help keeping us safe and compliant. Improving and restoring driver confidence is an important process for us.”

“We are happy with NaviGo due to its ability to plot fuel stops with real-time discounted pricing for us. The processing speed can be slow at times but it is due to having to hit a server for every generated route which is not going to be instantaneous.”

“Years ago it was great but hasn’t developed as rapidly over recent years. Also when it was with Maptuit it had great reporting. Now the Navigo with Qualcomm has no reporting. We used to get real-time graphical alerts.”
