The Guardian fatigue management system from Seeing Machines gives drivers instant alerts when it detects risk due to distracted or fatigued driving.Seeing Machines, a provider of in-cab camera technology to track driver fatigue and distraction, announced it signed a multi-year service agreement with a large North American refrigerated carrier.
The deal comes after a year-long pilot test with the undisclosed carrier that will now install Seeing Machines’ Guardian System on 750 of its trucks.
The Guardian System uses an infrared-based camera system mounted on the dashboard to track a driver’s eye movement and head position. If it detects distraction, fatigue or micro-sleep events for a fleet-defined period of time, it sounds an audible alert and vibrates the driver seat to alert the driver. In cases of micro-sleep detection, the system uploads a video clip to Seeing Machines’ Guardian SafeGuard Center, where a technician views the clip to verify the micro-sleep event and alerts the driver’s fleet manager. The fleet manager can then contact the driver to pull over.
Seeing Machines also announced a global distribution agreement with MiX Telematics to collaborate on a co-branded fatigue and distraction solution that integrates Seeing Machines’ technology with MiX Telematics’ fleet management and safety solutions.
