States lift hours rules due to winter storm in NE

On Feb. 11, New Jersey became the sixth northeast state to suspend trucker hour-of-service rules after winter storm Nemo left more than 3 feet of snow in some locations.

The Garden State lifted the rule through Feb. 18 for truckers hauling heat fuel while New York’s eased the restriction through Feb. 20.

Truckers taking heating oil, propane, gasoline and diesel into Connecticut have HOS relief through 11:59 p.m. Feb. 13. Connecticut also has lifted International Registration Plan requirements for transporters of emergency supplies and equipment until further notice.

Massachusetts has relieved HOS rules for haulers of heating oil, propane, gasoline through Feb. 16.

New York issued HOS relief for those hauling heating fuel into the Empire State through Feb. 20, while Rhode Island has waived HOS for transportation of home heating fuel, propane, and liquid natural gas through Feb. 13.

Finally, Maine has lifted HOS rules for power repair trucks through Feb. 12.
