Stay Metrics LogoStay Metrics, provider of driver retention tools, announces the number of drivers who received the Indiana Motor Truck Association’s Master Truck Driver (MTD) Award in 2019 — the first year of program sponsorship by Stay Metrics — increased by more than two-fold, year over year.

The IMTA MTD Award program recognizes top drivers in the trucking industry for their professional excellence in service and safety. For 2019, the association waived the application fee for carriers due to the support of IMTA Allied Member Stay Metrics, who provided recognition kits for the program that included framed certificates, window decals, and other items with IMTA MTD logos.

The MTD awards were presented on March 9 as part of the IMTA Safety and Maintenance Council Awards banquet at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Plainfield, IN. This year, 16 drivers received the award at this event compared to six drivers by the same time in 2018, and several motor carriers had multiple drivers who were recognized:

Wider Group, Inc. (Darien, IL): 6 drivers
Star Fleet Trucking (Middlebury, IN): 4 drivers
Online Transport (Greenfield, IN): 3 drivers
Mahant Transportation (Indianapolis): 2 drivers
Carter Express, Inc. (Anderson, IN): 1 driver

“We encourage all IMTA-member carriers to participate in the MTD program to ensure as many drivers as possible get the recognition they deserve and to highlight their ability to retain the industry’s top professionals,” said Tim Hindes, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Stay
Metrics. “Our sponsorship of the IMTA-MTD Award fits perfectly with our mission to improve the work experiences of drivers with their carriers.”

To qualify for the IMTA-MTD award, drivers must have at least one year of tenure at their nominating company, a clean Motor Vehicle Record for the past 3 years and achieved either one million DOT preventable accident-free miles or 10 years of DOT preventable accident-free driving.

Drivers must also have one of the following: completion of a Professional Driver Improvement course; a record of community service; participation in any state or national Truck Driving Championship; or performance of a heroic act.

Scott Witcher, Senior Client Relationship Manager, and Keith Sayer, Marketing Specialist for Stay Metrics, presented the MTD Award packets at the IMTA SMC banquet.

“Stay Metrics is proud to honor the Master Truck Driver Award recipients and sponsor the award kit all year,” said Witcher. “Stay Metrics was founded because our owners – Tim Hindes and Kurt LaDow – passionately believe in the important work that professional truck drivers do and want to see them recognized for their efforts. Honoring drivers in our home state of Indiana is a privilege.”
