SylectusSylectus, a business unit of Omnitracs Canada, Inc., and provider of web-based transportation management software (TMS), announced that 30 percent of its customer base has adopted or are testing its Android-based  Sylectus Mobile application.

The application, which has been available for five months, enables drivers to view and update trip information and dispatch personnel to track driver and load status in real-time. It is the first Android application to integrate Omntiracs’ Driver Workflow feature to improve the user experience for drivers by delivering information, prompts and exception notifications.

“The rapid growth in mobile technology in the trucking industry is clear — most drivers already own personal mobile devices, with many using Android-powered mobile phones and tablets, so creating an application that can reside on these devices to make their jobs easier makes perfect sense,” said Stuart Sutton, president and CEO of Sylectus.

DeMaris Transportation, a long time Sylectus customer, and family-owned expedited freight shipping and trucking company, is one customer currently benefiting from the Sylectus Mobile application for Android. DeMaris Transportation adopted the application to ensure anytime, anywhere operations with zero downtime.

“We began using the Sylectus Mobile application to better meet our customers’ needs,” said Charles DeMaris, president. “Since we began using the app, we have significantly improved our business operations — I can run every aspect of the business, from load status tracking in real-time to document scanning, from my mobile device — which helps improve both operational efficiency and our drivers’ experience.”
