Bison Transport is using predictive tools to understand freight demand in a volatile market.

The nomination period for the Truckload Carriers Association’s annual Best Fleets to Drive For contest is open until Oct. 31, allowing truck drivers to nominate their fleet for the award.

For a company to be eligible, they must be nominated by a truck driver and have 10 or more trucks operating in the U.S. or Canada. TCA membership is not required. CarriersEdge helps TCA produce the contest.

Once a company accepts their nomination, CarriersEdge will contact them to complete an electronic questionnaire detailing aspects of the company’s compensation, safety practices, benefits, equipment and training. A telephone interview will also be conducted with senior management, and a survey will be given randomly to the company’s drivers and owner-operators.

The top 20 finalists will be named Best Fleets to Drive For and will be announced in January. From that group, companies will be separated into “large” and “small” categories, and two overall winners will be recognized March 10-12 at the TCA Annual Convention in Las Vegas. This year, Central Oregon Truck Company was named the winner in the small fleet category, while Bison Transport was named the winner in the large fleet category.

The nomination period is open through Oct. 31. Drivers can nominate their fleets here.
