TransForce announces plans to change name to TFI International

TransForce last month purchased XPO’s truckload business, which prior had been the truckload business of Con-way Inc.

Canadian trucking fleet TransForce (No. 7 on the CCJ Top 250) plans to change its name from TransForce Inc. to TFI International Inc. by the end of the year, the company announced Nov. 28.

TransForce, who recently purchased XPO Logistics’ truckload operations, says the new name better reflects the expanded geographical scope of its business.

Shareholders will meet in Quebec on Dec. 23, who must approve the name change by two-thirds vote. Once approved, the company expects its shares to begin trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange before the end of the year. The company’s stock symbol will change from TFI to TFII.

The change stems from TransForce’s acquisition of XPO Logistics’ truckload division, now operating under CFI, in October.

“This change in our corporate identity is in line with the company’s growing operations and footprint in the U.S. where we currently generate approximately 50 percent of our revenue,” commented Alain Bédard, Chairman, president and CEO.
