Keep your trucks on the road

As an industry service, Shell is proud to sponsor this important safety information.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has released the revised Out-of-Service Criteria (OOSC), effective April 1, 2010, for placing vehicles Out-of-Service at roadside safety inspections. CVSA is a nonprofit organization bringing federal, state and provincial government agencies together with representatives from private industry in the United States, Canada and Mexico who are dedicated to improving commercial vehicle safety.

The OOSC identifies serious violations that render a commercial vehicle or commercial vehicle operator an imminent danger to the general public. Commercial vehicles and operators placed Out-of-Service cannot operate until those items that rendered them out of service are remedied or repaired.

Hope Arkansas eastbound scales put a truck out of service for a few hours for being overweight, Didn't even check driver did not have a tanker endorsement. I was a tanker truck!!!!!!

Christine,
I think it is last years data that they have compiled and found a trend. They have set oos standards based on that criteria.

I think the CVSA Blitz is needed but I also think they do not target the real offenders and that is the pickup drivers with no lights or safety chains on the trailers thy pull or those that do not secure the stuff they haul in the pickup and or trailer. I think the CVSA should target all vehicles that pull trailer. Then the real unsafe drives will be found and educated.

Should the date effective be April 1, 2011?
