ALK updates CoPilot Truck app with restyled UI

ALK, a Trimble company and provider of GeoLogistics applications and navigation software, announced a new update to its CoPilot Truck mobile GPS navigation app for iOS and Android. The update, v9.6.2, includes a revamped and restyled user interface (UI) and a full map update.

CoPilot Truck v9.6.2 is designed to provide professional drivers with comprehensive and accurate truck-specific navigation with ALK’s PC Miler commercial routing. The new version includes updated maps that contain truck-specific attributes not found in standard car GPS navigation apps. These include height restrictions, hazardous materials restrictions, truck-related points of interest (POIs), state mileage calculators and more.

“There is a fundamental difference in the GPS navigation needs of the truck driver as compared to the average commuter or traveler,” said David Quin, vice president of consumer applications at ALK. “CoPilot Truck addresses these differences by providing professional drivers optimal routes that can reduce costly out-of-route mileage, enable improved driver safety and assist in avoiding costly vehicle damage by calculating routes based on the size of vehicle driven and load carried.”

CoPilot Truck v9.6.2 also integrates with the Drivewyze PreClear mobile-based weigh station bypass app, available separately from Drivewyze, to help drivers save time and money by bypassing weigh stations while following CoPilot Truck guidance. It also has a new ActiveRoutes feature that calculates routes using average road speeds at that exact time of day and day of the week they are scheduled to travel for precise routing.

Additional features include:

–          iOS 8 optimization

–          Improved graphics for iPhone 6

–          Reduced battery consumption

–          Automatic Cloud backup of recent places, favorites and subscriptions

–          Drag-and-drop trip editing to reorganize stops along a route
