FedEx Corp. on Monday, Sept. 10, launched its eighth annual FedEx Cares Week, providing volunteer and service opportunities for team members both in the United States and around the world. More than 4,000 FedEx volunteers worldwide will donate their time and talents to serving local organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life in the communities where FedEx team members live and work.

FedEx Cares Week is being held Sept. 10-14 in more than 40 U.S. cities, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, New York, Newark, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Paul/Minneapolis and Washington, D.C. Additionally, FedEx team members across the globe will serve their communities for FedEx Cares Week in countries such as Brazil, Canada, China, France, India, Italy, Jamaica, Thailand and Turks and Caicos.

“FedEx Cares Week gives FedEx team members across the globe the opportunity to make a difference in their own back yards,” says Tabatha Stephens, manager of corporate contributions and volunteers at FedEx. “A passion for volunteerism is ingrained in FedEx’s corporate culture, and FedEx Cares Week is just one of the many ways we join together to give back.”

Now in its eighth year, FedEx Cares Week serves as the formal kickoff for the annual FedEx United Way campaign. In addition to volunteering thousands of hours each year, FedEx and its team members gave more than $15 million to the United Way in 2011.
