How will the trend toward larger, fewer stores, shifts in intermodal, the expansion of the Panama Canal and even the potential for delivery-by-drone affect freight patterns over the next decade?

That’s the subject of a panel discussion at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Outlook, which will also showcase future equipment, technology and workforce changes.

The two-day event, themed Trucking’s Future Now, will be held Aug. 26-27 at the Dallas Omni Hotel in conjunction with the Great American Trucking Show.

Infrastructure experts sharing their insights include David Levinson, chair of transportation at the University of Minnesota; Bob Kreeb, division chief, intelligent technologies research for National Highway Traffic Safety Administration; and John Woodroffe, director of the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute. Greg Cohen, CEO of Highway Users Alliance, will moderate. The panel takes place Wednesday, Aug. 26, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Futurist Michio Kaku will give CV-Outlook’s keynote address on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Kaku is one of the most highly regarded futurists in the world, internationally recognized for trying to complete Einstein’s unified field theory and his predictions of trends affecting business, commerce and finance.
