DAT, a business unit of TransCore, announced that 25 percent more equipment types are available on its DAT 3sixty and TruckersEdge load boards to help flatbed and other specialty load providers — freight brokers, 3PLs and shippers — move freight requiring specialized equipment.

The move augments the current equipment types and gives load providers the ability to use spot market capacity for freight requiring highly specific equipment, the company says.

The enhanced list of 72 trailer types expands the cargo that freight brokers, 3PLs and other load providers can post and helps motor carriers find freight that exactly matches their available equipment.

The 72 trailer types include specialty items such as over-dimension lowboy, over-dimension flatbed and step-deck Conestoga.

“Over the last 12 to 18 months we’ve seen an increase in spot market freight moves that serve diverse needs such as oil and gas exploration, windmill blades and other specialty cargo that is over-dimension or overweight,” said David Schrader, senior vice president, operations. â€śThe addition of the new trailer types will speed up the process of finding exactly what load providers are searching for, and provide a better way for carriers with specialized equipment to broadcast their availability.”

The new equipment-type listings are available on all DAT 3sixty Load Board products and TruckersEdge, where over 68 million loads and trucks are posted annually.
