Drivers’ medical certification requirements begin Jan. 30

Starting Jan. 30 and no later than Jan. 30, 2014, all commercial driver’s license holders must provide information to their state driver’s license agency regarding the type of commercial motor vehicle operation they drive in or expect to drive in with their CDL.

Drivers operating in certain types of commerce will be required to submit a current medical examiner’s certificate to their SDLA to obtain a “certified” medical status as part of their driving record. CDL holders required to have a ”certified” medical status who fail to provide and keep up-to-date their medical examiner’s certificate with their SDLA will become ”not-certified” and they may lose their CDL.

For specific state requirements for drivers and information related to how a state is handling the Medical Certification requirements, and to determine who to contact for additional information, go to www.aamva.org/aamva/DocumentDisplay.aspx?id={CA0F43CF-FBED-4FA6-A08E-1FAA7D44DFD9}

such a joke...i live in a state that says yes they want...but do they have an address to send it to...of course not...go figure

I am surprised that Ray Lahood has not stated publicly that this is a safety measure making our highways safer. He has mis stated every thing else and has no idea how trucking is accomplished. That being said this medical stuff is no-ones business but mine and my DR. The Dr has signed his name and is just as liable for falsifying it as I am.
This is no way going to be a benefit for the driver.

Next it will be we have to furnish a copy of the long form they will want for some obscure reason. .It is no way going to make our highways safer. The street cop and the HP Trooper have no reason for this info. We carry the medical card for proof of current up to date physical.
This BS is nothing more than one more step in the quest for control of the transportation industry.

Let's find another way to put drivers out of work and then complain about the shortage. Way to go government. Stick your nose in again where it does not belong. Companies were handling this just fine.

This is just like everything Government gets involved with all Screwd up this is why they work for the government can't fire idiots. If all trucking would just stop until it gets straightened out it would only take 3 days for the shelves to dry up and people to get hungry. They forget everything they eat,drink,wear,drive,touch or handle even to wipi thier buts a Truck brought it

The object of all the new rules is to increase the chances of you being in non compliance under the ruse of safety.

This will be another screwed up mess, When the goverment gets their hands on something. With the hours of service rulings why do they go back to the way it was ten hours with a eight hour break. Who can sleep ten hours at one time and before you could thke a nap when you needed it with out loosing out on your driving time, we lived with it for years and it worked fine, now the goverment got more of their hands in it and its screwed up.
sincerly

Does is touch the canadian drivers?
