Ford Motor Company and Telogis have introduced the new generation of Ford’s factory-fit commercial telematics platform, Ford Telematics powered by Telogis. The new brand offering will replace Ford’s existing Ford Crew Chief platform.

Ford Telematics is available today in the U.S. and Canada for 2009 or newer models of the following vehicles: Ford Super Duty and F-150 pickups; Transit and Transit Connect; E-Series vans; 2013 and newer Ford Interceptor sedan and utility models. The system will be introduced on F-650/F-750 trucks for the 2016 model year.

Additionally, Ford Telematics soon will be available around the world for Ford commercial customers.

“Commercial trucks have to be more than delivery boxes on wheels, and innovations like Ford Telematics are critical to helping our fleet customers succeed,” said Raj Nair, Ford chief technical officer and group vice president, Global Product Development. “Ford, in coordination with Telogis, is leading the development of smart solutions for hard-working fleets so they can maximize their operations to better serve their customers.”

Ford Telematics gives visibility into the work day of drivers and helps with planning more efficient routes, fuel savings, and providing better service to customers and encouraging safe driving habits, the company says. Features include audible in-cab alerts for speeding, hard braking, harsh acceleration and more.

The online management portal has dashboards and reports detailing key metrics including fuel use, driver and vehicle performance, route compliance and more.

“With the launch of Ford Telematics, we renew our commitment to providing Ford customers with a best-in-class, mission-critical platform on which they can manage every aspect of their mobile business,” said Jason Koch, president, Telogis Fleet and co-founder at Telogis.
