GreatwideGreatwide Logistics and Cardinal Logistics Management announced this week the two have merged to form a transportation company that will be one of the largest dedicated fleets in the country and will have annual revenue that exceeds $1 billion.

The company will retain Cardinal Logistics Management as its name and will employ roughly 5,000 drivers. It’ll work hauling freight in a variety of industries, including grocery, bulk food, retail, metals and building products.

Centerbridge Partners — a $20 billion capital management firm — is the majority owner of the combined company, and John Tague will be the fleet’s chairman and CEO.

“We are excited that this transaction creates an industry leading logistics company that is supported by a strong customer base, experienced management team, best in class company drivers and owner operators and a differentiated technology platform that enables creative, low cost solutions for our customers,” Tague says of the merged product.

Greatwide is the No. 17 fleet in the CCJ Top 250, and Cardinal is No. 72 — see the full list here.
