An appeals court in the District of Columbia heard oral arguments from the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association and Teamsters Dec. 6 in a lawsuit against the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s cross-border trucking pilot program with Mexico.

OOIDA and the Teamsters argued that U.S. truckers are held to stricter medical standards than Mexican drivers participating in the program and that Mexico does not have a system of enough quality to track the medical and safety history of drivers.

FMCSA presented a defense, but it;s not yet available.
