Palm Peterbilt Trucks, Peterbilt Motors Co. and the City of Ft. Myers have placed a 2011 Peterbilt 320 refuse truck equipped with an Eaton hydraulic launch assist system into service. Palm Peterbilt began its relationship with the City of Ft. Myers more than 15 years ago. Since then Palm Peterbilt has delivered 24 Peterbilt trucks to the city and continues to support their trucks with parts and service.
With the assistance of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and through a grant from the American Lung Association, the City of Fort Myers was able to cover the costs of the HLA system upgrade. In exchange, the city was required to destroy an existing truck that had old engine technology.
In other news, Palm Peterbilt Trucks is hosting a customer awareness event today, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2441 South State Road 7 in Fort Lauderdale. The event will focus on the latest medium- and heavy-duty truck technology, as well as the latest in green environmental initiatives.
Peterbilt Motors Co. will be at the event with a 53-foot road tour display trailer featuring new clean diesel engine technology, as well as many new safety and efficiency products. Hybrid-powered trucks and new clean diesel selective catalytic reduction engines will be on display and in trucks that can be test-driven during the event. Manufacturer representatives will be on hand.
