In an attempt to alleviate the fuel shortage caused by Hurricane Sandy’s blow to New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo waived the rule that requires fuel transporters entering the state to register with its State Department of Taxation and Finance.

Transporters of gasoline, diesel and kerosene do not have to register, according to an executive order issued late Thursday by Cuomo. The order did not say when the rules would go back into effect.
