In case you haven’t noticed, the good times are back. The nation’s 100 largest for-hire trucking companies posted their highest combined revenues ever in 2003. The upswing in revenues follows a 2002 that was practically flat and a 2001 that represented the first revenue decline by Commercial Carrier Journal’s The Top 100

Nathan Meisgeier, president of Omaha, Nebraska-based Werner Enterprises, said his carrier is committing to hire 1,400 veterans over the coming year as part of the Freedom Haulers initiative.
