REDFORD, MICHIGAN…Western Star Trucks announced that it is relocating its headquarters, including sales, marketing, dealer operations, and financial departments, to Redford, Mich., in the Greater Detroit area.
Western Star will start operating from its new location in the second quarter of this year.

“The Western Star brand has tremendous momentum, with sales, production, and popularity on the rise,” said John Merrifield, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Western Star Trucks. “To add to this momentum we will capitalize on the technical benefits and strategic advantages that we will receive from our partners at DaimlerChrysler, who we’ll be sharing a roof with at the Redford facility. This is the right time to make this change and we are all very excited.”

According to Merrifield, the transition will be seamless to Western Star operations and transparent to its customers. He also ensures that there will be no interruption or changes in the premium craftsmanship of the product or quality service that customers have come to expect.

Since 2000, Western Star has been based in Willoughby, Ohio, in the Cleveland area. “Willoughby has been a good home for Western Star headquarters operations,” Merrifield said, “but the advantages of being in closer proximity to our affiliated companies call for this relocation.”

He added that Western Star trucks will continue to be built at the Portland, Ore., Truck Manufacturing Plant. The Portland plant employs 1,800 people in the production of a range of heavy-duty commercial vehicles including the entire Western Star product line.

Western Star Trucks, currently headquartered in Willoughby, Ohio, produces heavy-duty custom trucks for long haul and vocational applications. Western Star is a member of the Freightliner LLC Group.
Freightliner is a company of DaimlerChrysler, the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer. For more information on Western Star Trucks, visit www.westernstartrucks.com.
