GATS highlights include expediting seminars

UFS Insight, in addition to sponsoring the Expedite Pavilion at the Great American Trucking Show, is hosting educational sessions about expediting in conjunction with the Aug. 25-27 show at the Dallas Convention Center.

Debbie Dent, president of D. Dent and Associates, will present a seminar, “Crossing Borders For A New Era,” in the Quality Inn Dallas Market Center. The presentation will be 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 24. Dent, a cross-border consultant, has worked in customs brokerage for more than 20 years.

Dent will provide detailed explanation of the Free and Secure Trade Act, advanced cargo reporting, automated commercial environments and e-manifesting, security initiatives and compliance tips.

NAPA will sponsor a “Let’s Talk Expediting” seminar from 1-2 p.m. Aug. 27 at the show. Topics include the nature of the expediting niche, revenue expectations, choosing a carrier for leasing and spec’ing a vehicle.

UFS Insight will host a full-day expediter training class at the Quality Inn Dallas Market Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 28. The class will teach truckers business-starting strategies, expedited trucking principles and other topics.
