Crete to start paying practical miles

Crete Carrier will drop its short route mileage plan and pay all its drivers practical route miles as of Saturday, Oct. 1.

Practical route miles are miles actually navigable by an 80,000-pound tractor-trailer, not necessarily the shortest miles. Switching from short route miles to practical route miles means more miles and more pay for Crete’s company drivers and owner-operators.

“When we say ‘There are no shortcuts’ at Crete Carrier, we mean it,” says Tonn Ostergard, president and CEO.
