Heartland Express gives $1 million, challenges others

Russell Gerdin, president and CEO of Heartland Express, announced a $1 million donation to the American Red Cross to aid Hurricane Katrina victims.

Gerdin has challenged other members of the American Trucking Associations to contribute as well, for a unified ATA donation to the Red Cross.

To be counted in the unified donation, checks made payable to the American Red Cross should be sent by Friday, Sept. 9 to the American Trucking Associations, c/o Crystal Reid, 2200 Mill Road, Alexandria, VA 22314.
