Kenworth Truck Company is donating a new 2006 model Kenworth T800 dump truck on behalf of its employees to the City of New Orleans to support humanitarian efforts for those impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
The Kenworth T800 dump truck was produced by Kenworth employees. The truck is scheduled to be delivered to the local New Orleans dealer, Kenworth of South Louisiana, which is located in nearby Harahan.
“We appreciate Kenworth’s generosity in donating a new T800 dump truck to the City of New Orleans to help support the massive recovery effort,” said Scott Oliphant, general manager of Kenworth of South Louisiana. “I guarantee that the city officials here in New Orleans very much welcome Kenworth’s donation and look forward to putting this special truck into action as soon as possible.”
“The employees are really excited to have the opportunity to contribute in their own way to help aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans,” said Jim Stewart, production assembler and president of Kenworth Employees AYD Board at Kenworth’s manufacturing plant in Renton, Wash. “We know that this Kenworth truck will be put to good use.”
The Kenworth Employees AYD (Add Your Donation) Board is active in helping employees in emergency situations and making donations to nonprofit organizations.
PACCAR Inc., Kenworth’s parent company, recently announced a $1 million donation to the American Red Cross – Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund to support relief efforts in the Gulf Coast area.
