Regional trucking company Heartland Express said third-quarter profit rose a modest 3 percent, as higher diesel prices offset revenue growth.
Net income inched higher to $17.5 million, or 24 cents per share, from $17.1 million, or 23 cents per share. Revenue grew to $136.2 million, up 16 percent from $117.3 million in last year’s third quarter.
In a Thomson Financial poll, analysts projected per-share income of 25 cents on $133.9 million revenue.
