Landstar System has named Jill Sullivan October Employee of the Month at the company’s Rockford, Ill., service center, and Cheryl Johnson October Employee of the Month for the company’s service center at its Jacksonville, Fla. base.

Sullivan, a Landstar Carrier Group customer service representative who joined Landstar in July 2004, earned plaudits from her co-workers and supervisor for her dedication and hardworking nature.

“One of Jill’s strengths is the ability to remain calm when the situation calls for it,” says her supervisor, Landstar Carrier Group Freight Operations Manager Amy Flood. “She’s not one to shy away from taking on special projects, and I know her work can always be counted on.”

“Jill has truly taken the value of going beyond what is expected to heart,” says Landstar President and CEO Henry Gerkens. “Her attitude and willingness make us proud to have her on the Landstar team.”

Johnson, a rate auditor in Landstar Carrier Group’s Rating Services department, was nominated for taking on additional responsibility when a co-worker went on maternity leave.

“Cheryl stepped up in a big way and enabled the department to continue working at a high level,” says her supervisor, Landstar Carrier Services Rating Services Manager SaSonia Jones. “When I came to revenue processing, she made quite an impression by helping me get up to speed. And when her co-workers ask for help, Cheryl always says yes.”

“Cheryl puts forth extraordinary effort to get the job done and displays this commitment on a daily basis,” says Gerkens. “We’re fortunate to have people like her at Landstar.”
