Freight Agent has formed a new business unit and launched a website, FreightAgent.com, designed to serve as a matchmaker between shippers and asset-based carriers by providing detailed information about carriers, including a state-to-state service matrix.

“The matrix can be searched by mode and helps the shipper find carriers that service a particular lane,” says Jeff Baker, chief executive officer of the new business unit. “This is not a load-matching service. We provide information about both parties to assist in developing a long-term direct shipper-carrier relationship”. Various modes are serviced, including vans, reefer, flatbed, intermodal, drayage and tank, Baker says.

According to Jordan Gray, vice president of technology for the company, the site offers free unlimited searches for shippers and is simple to use. “The site was 12 months in the making,” Gray says. “A lot of thought and effort went into designing FreightAgent.com for ease of use and functionality. We want to make a difference in the industry and provide real value to our customers.”
