PC-10, the new diesel engine oil category for 2007 engines, is now officially designated as CJ-4 by the American Petroleum Institute.

CJ-4 oils will be used mostly in on-highway truck engines, which will have stricter emissions standards, more exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) usage and more aftertreatment. These technologies are designed to meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s emissions requirements for ’07 engines.

The “PC” in PC-10 stood for “Proposed Category.”
