Work on a section of U.S. 26 near Manning, Ore. – the Sunset Highway, between Hayward Road at milepost 47.5 and Chrysler Drive at milepost 48.6 – will cause regular lane closures.

Starting today, Jan. 16, lanes will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each week Monday through Thursday, and between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There will be no size restrictions, but expect minor delays. The project is set to be completed in October 2006.

The $3.1 million project includes:

  • Adding a continuous turn lane on a one-mile section of U.S. 26;
  • Replacing culverts, including a new fish-passable culvert under the highway;
  • Paving and striping the highway in the construction zone; and
  • Adding a guardrail.
