The Maryland Motor Truck Association’s 2005 Driver of the Year is Overnite Transportation’s William Gray Jr. Based in Cumberland, Md., Gray has driven more than 2.8 million accident-free miles throughout his 27 years with Overnite.

A former member and captain of the Overnite All-Star Road Team, Gray has competed in both the Maryland and National Truck Driving Championships. In addition to training new commercial truck drivers, Gray has spoken to numerous youth groups regarding safe sharing of the road with large commercial vehicles.

This is the third time in the last five years an Overnite company driver has received the annual state honor. The other Overnite winners are David Hardman Jr., who earned the title in 2003, and Tony Cesenaro, who was named Maryland Driver of the Year in 2001.
