DaimlerChrysler has agreed to host the SAE 2008 World Congress, the world’s largest automotive technology event. Meanwhile, the SAE World Congress also has confirmed host companies through 2008: DaimlerChrysler joins Toyota, host of the 2007 event, and BMW, host of this year’s SAE World Congress, which will be held April 3-6 at Cobo Convention Center in Detroit.

“The positive impact that the SAE World Congress has on automotive engineering cannot be understated,” says Frank O. Klegon, executive vice president of product development for DaimlerChrysler, who will serve as chairman for the SAE 2008 World Congress. “The event brings together the best minds and technology in a truly open forum for discussion.”

David L. Amati, director of global automotive business and automotive headquarters for SAE International, says this is the first time SAE has had confirmed hosts for its annual automotive meeting three years out.

“DaimlerChrysler Corporation’s decision to host the 2008 SAE World Congress is demonstrative of this company’s forward vision, and we are very pleased they’ve signed on,” Amati says. “In joining BMW and Toyota as future host companies, DaimlerChrysler Corporation’s support reiterates the relevance of the SAE World Congress.”
