A. Duie Pyle Inc., a Northeast-based integrated logistics and LTL provider, has named Stephen O’Kane president, effective February 2006. O’Kane is a 20-year veteran of New Penn and has been its president since 2001.

Peter Latta, owner and current president of A. Duie Pyle, will assume the role of company chairman. Latta will work with the company’s leadership team and other active owners to develop and oversee the company’s strategic vision, while focusing on business growth within the truckload, warehousing and other service divisions. He also will research other growth opportunities for the West Chester, Pa.-based company.

Latta says the move is part of A. Duie Pyle’s strategy to continue its forward motion as a privately owned, union-free company with an exemplary leadership team. “Our company’s growth and development, as well as our commitment to outstanding service, depends on our leadership team and the depth of its collective experience,” Latta says. “Steve O’Kane is a natural choice for president. He has a strong command of the Northeast market, a proven track record of leadership and success, and he shares our long-term vision of caring for our customers and our people in a way that produces the best quality service in the Northeast. We’re pleased to have Steve aboard, and we look forward to his contribution to our future.”

O’Kane began his career with Lebanon, Pa.-based New Penn in 1985 as a terminal manager, and held numerous roles within the company — including central division manager, vice president of sales, senior vice president, executive vice president and chief operating officer — before being named president in 2001. During his tenure with New Penn, O’Kane’s leadership provided industry-leading operating ratios while earning the carrier Quest for Quality awards for its service performance.
