Sterling Truck announced that Vac-Con recently accepted delivery of its 1,000th Sterling truck from Atlantic Truck Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Vac-Con, a manufacturer of truck-mounted sewer cleaning machines, has been purchasing Sterling trucks from the dealership for eight years.

Vac-Con’s purchases primarily include Sterling L-Line and Acterra trucks with Caterpillar engines, which then are upfitted with combination vacuum/water tanker bodies. Sold through Vac-Con’s international dealer network, the trucks are used by local governments and private contractors. The 1000th truck is part of the largest single domestic order Vac-Con has received — 21 trucks from Miami-Dade County.

“Our customers have been consistently pleased with Sterling for its exceptional performance and dedicated dealer network,” says Tom Jody, Vac-Con marketing manager. “Additionally, we appreciate the strong relationships we have with both Atlantic Truck Center and Sterling. We plan to continue purchasing quality Sterling trucks.”

To celebrate the milestone, Atlantic Truck Center recently hosted a reception at Vac-Con’s corporate headquarters in Green Cove Springs, Fla., for its more than 250 employees. John Merrifield, vice president of distribution at Freightliner Group, and several Sterling executives were in attendance, along with representatives from DaimlerChrysler Financial Services and Caterpillar. All parties were recognized for their contributions to the success of Vac-Con.

“It is extremely gratifying to reach this significant milestone with Vac-Con,” Merrifield says. “We look forward to growing the relationship into the future as Sterling continues to produce a chassis for easy body builder upfitting and a dependable and good-looking truck that drivers demand.”

Sterling Truck, based in Redford, Mich., produces heavy- and medium-duty custom work trucks for regional hauling and diverse vocational applications. Sterling is a member of the Freightliner group of companies.
