The Delco Remy 36SI HP heavy-duty brushless alternator, designed for pickup/delivery and other vocational applications that require high output at idle, is rated at 100 amps at idle and 170 amps at highway speeds in ambient temperatures up to 105 degrees C. Improved electrical efficiency for the new alternator also is said to lower operating horsepower, leading to improved engine efficiency and lower fuel costs, according to Remy.
Like other heavy-duty brushless alternators in the company’s 35SI and 36SI model lines, the vocational unit features a “flex-lead” bridge design resistance and higher-capacity press-fit diodes for increase vibration and heat resistance. The 36SI HD comes with a 3-year/350,000-mile warranty on new units and a 2-year/250,000-mile coverage for factory remanufactured units.
