SPX Service Solutions has announced a joint development agreement with Caterpillar Inc. for its Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Cleaning Tool. SPX says it will be the sole provider of the DPF Cleaning Tool and will have access to Caterpillar’s technology patents for the product.
Caterpillar began internal development of its own DPF cleaning tool in early 2004, and after initial research and development, it teamed with SPX to develop a commercial solution. SPX says that in conjunction with Caterpillar’s development team, it designed a comprehensive package that it says has the ability to provide electronic control of the DPF cleaning process.
