BorderConnect has announced that U.S. Customs and Border Protection has certified BorderConnect as an official service provider for the Automated Commercial Environments’ (ACE) electronic manifest pre-notification system for highway carriers.

“BorderConnect certification is an important step toward trucking companies meeting the electronic manifest requirements,” says Daniel Dent, president and chief executive officer of Windsor, Ontario-based Upfactor. “BorderConnect is used to prevent delays for over 35,000 Canadian shipments each month for carriers. We anticipate the same volume for U.S. shipments when ACE becomes mandatory. Certification is a big first step for many trucking companies ready to take advantage of ACE.”

Trucking companies now can improve the time it takes to submit manifests while viewing customs status for inbound and outbound shipments with BorderConnect, the company says. Carriers also may transmit manifests directly from their dispatching software by opting to integrate with BorderConnect.

“We’ve been hearing from a lot of carriers that have tried the ACE Portal, and they want an easier, faster tool”, Dent says. “Most are concerned about the time and cost when using the ACE Portal. They are aware that Canadian Customs will require electronic manifests in the future with ACI, which means trucking executives need to choose a system that will work for that as well.”
