F.T. Silfies announces promotions, new hires

F.T. Silfies Inc., a regional Mid-Atlantic dry bulk carrier based in Nazareth, Pa., has announced recent promotions and new hires.

  • Chris Silfies has been promoted to regional operations manager. Silfies has vast experience running the company’s Evansville, Pa. terminal over the past several years and will focus his efforts on managing multiple terminals in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Additionally, he will assume responsibility for driver recruiting and manage the drivers on the President’s Road Team.
  • Tom Butler has been hired as director of human resources. Butler joins Silfies from Peco Energy and, most recently, Reinsel & Company LLP, where he served in various human resources roles. Butler will focus on being a resource to management and employees for resolving workplace issues, overseeing healthcare issues, analyzing and forecasting work force trends, overseeing recruiting and retention strategies, and creating recognition and reward strategies.
  • Hank Beech has been hired as vice president of risk management. Beech comes from Goodman Tank Lines where he has been director of safety and compliance over the past four years. Previously, he served with the U.S. Army’s Transportation Corp. in Ft. Eustice, Va., Korea and the new Cumberland Army Depot. He comes with a wealth of knowledge in dry bulk transportation and safety, personnel and DOT regulations.
